The distillery is named in reference to English and Irish convicts who were sentenced to “transportation”. This involved travel from the British isles to Van Diemans land to serve 7 years of labour. The whisky that is made here is a tribute to those people including founder and head distiller John Haltons ancestors. Trasnportation is also Australias first whisky produced following the Irish technical file.
